7-time Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong, visits The Wellness Community in California

On Thursday, February 19, 2009, 7-Time Tour de France Champion and cancer survivor, Lance Armstrong, visited The Wellness Community (TWC) of Paso Robles. Having recently come out of retirement, Lance returned to professional cycling to raise awareness of the universal fight against cancer. He is currently competing in the Amgen Tour of California with Team Astana.
During his visit to TWC, Lance spent time with cancer patients and Wellness Community founders and staff and spoke to them about their personal cancer experiences. He also addressed a large crowd of fans who cheered on his efforts both in cycling and the war on cancer.
The Wellness Community has been part of the Breakaway from Cancer initiative since its inception. Founded in 2005 by Amgen Inc. as a complementary component to the company’s sponsorship of the Amgen Tour of California, Breakaway from Cancer is a national initiative to increase awareness of the important resources available to cancer patients from prevention to education, and patient care to advocacy and financial support.
