Three cheers for Gilda’s Club Desert Cities!

Gilda’s Club Desert Cities received the Julie Copeland Community Service Award at the BNP Paribas Bank Open Tennis Tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday, March 19. The presentation was at 10:30 PDT and was televised nationally on ESPN and the Tennis Channel.

Julie Copeland was a tennis pro and also a close friend of tournament director Charlie Pasarell. Julie was also a friend of Frank and Barbara Sinatra and they established this award in Julie’s honor when she died of cancer. Barbara Sinatra will be presenting the award to Paula Kennedy, GC-Desert Cities CEO and Sue Shankman, GC-Desert Cities Board Chair.

In addition to a grant for the CSC affiliate, an article about Gilda’s Club Desert Cities and their Noogieland programs was featured in the tennis tournament’s official program which is sold at the event to the over 200,000 people who attend.

Congratulations to Paula and Sue and their Gilda’s Club team in Cathedral City, California!
