Many cancer patients as well as their caregivers find that going through cancer treatment dramatically impacts their daily routines. Magnolia Meals at Home is a new pilot program that delivers free nutritional meals to households affected by breast cancer so that families can spend more quality time together by sharing a meal.
This partnership between Eisai, Cancer Support Community (CSC), CancerCare and Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) has officially launched in and around two pilot cities, Andover, Massachusetts and Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
Participants in the program will receive one meal delivery a month for six months. Each delivery includes up to seven meals designed to meet the nutritional needs of people living with breast cancer and 10 meals for family members.
To be eligible, men or women with breast cancer may be of any income and must fit one of the following criteria:
- Currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy or hormone therapy
- Received chemotherapy or radiation therapy in the last 3 months
- Recently discharged from a cancer-related hospital stay in the last 3 months
If you or a loved one is interested in participating, please contact Jane E. Brown at the Cancer Support Community at 617-733-5848, or call the Cancer Support Community toll-free helpline at 1-888-793-9355.
The Magnolia Meals at Home program is currently underway for breast cancer patients in these towns in Massachusetts and New Jersey. For more information and eligibility requirements, visit our site.
